<reviewbody>My father has an old Edison phonograph that is still in working order. Several of the songs represented here are in my father's collection, though sadly not in as good a shape as the discs transcribed here. My brother and I used to spend many an afternoon cranking up the old Edison and delighting to the sounds of "Barney Google", "Old King Tut", and "Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Sheen". Jones and Hare's humor may not have retained much of its relevance for modern audiences, but the songs were always bouncy and fun to listen to. This is a great find for me.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>these two characters were the "interwoven pair"
on very early radio commercials. They made their
mark in vaudeville and records in the teens and twenties, and were quite established by the early
30's, when they were the first famous voices in radio.</reviewbody>
